Interview with Amr Ibrahim Mousa at Tuesday 10th of May 2022

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AI: "nefer" is a word in the Ancient Egyptian language that was used to represent beauty. The meaning in English is "Beautiful on the inside and the outside".

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AI: The bottle design is derived from the curved lines of the female figure; A cumulative product of her skeletal structure and the distribution of muscle and fat. The Packaging is very Iconic and identifiable. The box is a sculpture with its curved edges in a very elegant appeal with the gold typography.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AI: The manufacturing. It is a challenge, of course.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AI: Started: April 2020 / Design Completed: September 2020 / Location: Milan, Italy

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
AI: 3D-printed perfume bottles. This is when art, technology, and design are combined to create a luxurious organic piece with an inner core containing the fragrance as the body contains the soul.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AI: No.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
AI: To create a luxurious and sophisticated product, package, and brand. starting from picking a name and to manufacturing.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
AI: No.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
AI: Someone with an interest in heritage and with an appreciative taste in design.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
AI: The goal was to create a very Iconic and identifiable packaging. The box is almost a sculpture with its curved edges in a very elegant appeal with the gold metal typography. The bottle design is derived from the curved lines of the female figure; A cumulative product of the skeletal structure and the quantity and distribution of muscle and fat on the body as they are typically narrower at the waist than at the bust and hips.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AI: "nefer" is a word in the Ancient Egyptian language that was used to symbolize beauty and goodness. The exact translation of the word in English is "Beautiful on the inside and the outside".
