Interview with Ilana Seleznev at Wednesday 21st of October 2020

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
IS: The main idea behind the design was the method. The inspiration is the Mathematics and one of my projects that called "Body story". In my opinion, creative and innovative development and design should be based on clear tools and formulas, in other words, working systematically and in patterns.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
IS: I what achieve systematic work. I want to prove my methodology - “the math of design”, that based on " thinking and working inside the box". I think that is makes it more effective and useful to create innovative ideas. Instead of being pressured by finding the next best thing and racking our brains on thinking outside of box, we can apply the same methods and patterns-just like mathematics. Using simple math-like tools, we can create innovative and extraordinary products in a fast and efficient way. Looking deeper in our daily environment (like offices) and surroundings in a methodological way can enlighten us and open new ways of thinking and using materials we have never thought of before.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
IS: To make a lot of smart, good and meaningful products with huge budgets that change the world.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
IS: From the moment that I control the tools from the "thinking inside the box", its take a few months (a normal and even shorter process from product design development).

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
IS: I decide to pursuit an inspiration, my body projects and my Methodology.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
IS: I am happy and honor to answer yet on this question, My product being used.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
IS: I dealt with similar things earlier and a similar work environment

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
IS: Minimalist and FFF designers.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
IS: Everyone

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
IS: Minimalism, feminine and mathematical visibility.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
IS: The function that the product does.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
IS: Method of thinking.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
IS: Cleanliness and softness work.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
IS: No :) There's only the photographer and the workshop

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
IS: The technology and the material of the product selected by the magical and the psychological feelings - the product is for home or work environment. p.S - But The product can be produced in many technologies (also for mass and quantitative production)

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
IS: Of course! Mathematical thinking and the research of all my method

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
IS: 1. The new thinking 2. Materials - in my country good materials are very expensive. It was important for me that the price has to be comfortable that people could buy beautiful, quality and practical products.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
IS: I feel more ready for some kind of exposure

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
IS: Learning the method better

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
