Introduction
At A' Design Awards, we are very committed to recognizing and promoting exceptional design work from around the globe, regardless of the economic conditions in a participant's country. We understand that the cost of nominating a design can be challenging for designers in countries with economic constraints. To address this issue and ensure equal opportunities for all participants, we offer the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) Adjustment and Discounts for A' Design Award nominations. This page provides detailed information on the PPP Adjustments and Discount, its social and economic advantages, and the steps to request and benefit from it.
Social and Economic Advantages of the PPP Discount, Adjustment and Sponsorship:
-
Equal Opportunities: By offering the PPP Discount, we aim to create a level playing field for designers from countries facing economic challenges, ensuring that they have the same opportunity to participate to A' Design Awards and showcase their work as designers from more affluent countries.
-
Global Representation: The PPP Discount and Adjustment scheme encourages designers from diverse backgrounds and regions to participate in the A' Design Awards, leading to a more inclusive and globally representative competition.
-
Talent Recognition: By making the nomination process more accessible, the PPP Discount and Adjustment program helps identify and recognize talented designers who might have otherwise been unable to participate due to financial constraints.
-
Economic Empowerment: Winning the A' Design Award can significantly impact a designer's career and open doors to new opportunities. The PPP Discount enables designers from economically challenged countries to access these benefits, leading to their professional growth and economic empowerment.
-
Cross-Cultural Exchange: The PPP Discount and Adjustment scheme fosters cross-cultural exchange by encouraging designers from different countries to share their unique perspectives and design philosophies, enriching the global design community and the A' Design Awards.
-
Encouraging Local Design Industries: By making it easier for designers from countries with economic constraints to participate in the A' Design Awards, the PPP Discount and Adjustment scheme contributes to the growth and development of local design industries.
How to Request the PPP Discount, Adjustment and Sponsorship
Please note that the PPP Discount and Adjustment is not applied automatically but is available upon request. To apply for the Purchasing Power Parity Discount, Adjustment or Sponsorship, follow these steps:
- Upload your design.
- Obtain free preliminary design score.
- Check your country in the List of Countries by GDP (PPP) per Capita. This will be relevant for calculating your discount. Not to be confused with List of Countries by GDP (nominal) per Capita; you need to check List of Countries by GDP (Purchasing Power Parity) per Capita.
- Before completing the payment, contact our support, mentioning your participation in the A' Design Award via Purchasing Power Parity Adjustment, Discount or Sponsorship scheme, provide link to this page and note your country of residence, and your request for the PPP Discount.
- Our support team will review your request and, if eligible, provide you with the necessary discount or sponsorship on your nomination.
- If World Bank or IMF data on GDP PPP differs, you can chose the one that will benefit you most.
Eligibility for Sponsorship, Discount or Adjustment Amount
(1) Eligibility: If your country is not in top 20% of List of Countries by GDP (PPP) per Capita, sorted by any of IMF or World Bank statistics, you can request a discount. (2) Discount: Check the World Average GDP PPP (refer this as W) and then check your Country GDP PPP (refer this as C). The discount rate is ceil (100*(1-(C/W))) % for digital nomination and ceil((100*(1-(C/W)))/4) for Pro Nomination. For example if the World Average GDP PPP is 20.000 USD and your country GDP PPP is 2.500 USD, in this case you would have 100 * (1-(2.500/20.000) = 87.5% rounded up to nearest ceiling 88% of discount for digital nomination and 87.5/4 = 21.875 % again rounded up to nearest ceiling 22% for pro nomination only and only if your preliminary score is 6 or higher. D) Furthermore, if your preliminary score is 10 and your country has lower than World Average GDP PPP, then we can either fully sponsor your digital nomination or provide you with a very high 30% pro-nomination discount, whichever you prefer.
