Aya Kawabata, the lead designer of the winning textile design Sun and Night explains “Creatively, Aya like using abstract subject matter and imagery because she want every viewer to bring their own unique background and ideas to viewing the work. She really want people to have an individual experience. Technically, this textile creates harmony through the color and texture of yarns. Jaquared weaving is an old technique that allows the combination of warp and weft to result in new colors.
