Steven Yang Avis, the lead designer of the winning project Contrapposto explains “Luxmea’s Contrapposto side table is an artifact inspired by Polykleitos’s sculptures to explore the dynamics and balance between lines and masses by fusing modern fabrication techniques and traditional sculptural concepts and to innovatively overcome the gaps between concepts and real world limitations. The choice of natural materials (Baltic birch & walnut burl) with French polishing in shellac, plus the surfaces generated from Boolean action ruled by a Cylinder shape, allows this minimalist design to capture shades of light, therefore, adds an aesthetic sophistication in atmosphere.” To learn more visit at: https://competition.adesignaward.com/design.php?ID=36273
