We are a design trio. We find solutions to design, art, architecture and education. In this project, we pursue and express the beauty, wonder and coolness of water. The proverb of Taoism says, “Jouzen ha mizu no gotoshi.” Water tells us the ideal way of life. First, water is flexible. Water assumes the shape of its vessel. Second, water is so humble that it will flow downward to any place. Third, water has the potential ability to break rock when it creates streams. Playing moments of fountain rings remind us of such a spontaneous way of life.
The Fountain Ring’s production and sales channels are done in Tokyo, giving the product a high-quality “Made in Japan” label. Historically Japanese had no particular fountains in the gardens. Japanese gardens express nature as miniature, idealized landscapes based on Zen aesthetics. Therefore we use small amount of water for such as Shishiodoshi, Suikinkutsu, Chozubachi. In these systems, water always descends from a place of higher elevation to a lower location. Although times have changed, using modern technologies , we realized new fountain from Japanese point of view.
