‘A Stranger to Words’ is an interactive network graph to visualize Meng's personal learning experience as a dyslexic. Based on her daily reading report, the personal database of 23,358 words, consisting of 4,525 nodes and 17,648 edges, were created originally to express how she understood words. Its goal is to reveal a connecting system of underlying text algorithm in a insightful way and to unfold personal sentiments through the capabilities of data visualization. She wishes to transform the suffering of depression and frustration to a fantastic and imaginative production.
Meng Chih Chiang is Digital Artist and Interactive Designer who received a BFA in Visual Communication from National Taiwan Normal University in 2009 and an MFA in Computer Art from School of Visual Arts in 2013 with a concentration in multimedia and interactive art of interface, infographic, programming and internet. She has worked as a web designer for Medialand in Taiwan, a creative/interactive designer for American Express and Hi-res respectively in New York City. Clients included League of Legends, The Glenlivet, Shiseido, KFC, AXE, EVA AIR, Ballantine’s, and Taiwanese Ministry of Culture.
