The pavilion is located in a landmark shopping mall in Hong Kong and aimed to celebrate the first summer after the pandemic by creating a colorful and vibrant atmosphere. The design incorporates layers of colorful acrylic panels that reflect sunlight and create shades of different colors on the ground. The strategic positioning of the panels creates an open and accessible space for the public to rest and play. Inspired by the dynamic nature of Hong Kong, the pavilion symbolizes hope, positivity, and the energy of the city.
Pui Sze Kong and Ho Wang Owen Lam, as the co-founder of Afloat Studio which is an architectural and interior design practice based in Hong Kong. Pui Sze Kong and Ho Wang Owen Lam obtained their master degree in the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong respectively and were registered as Architect and HKIA member. The studio aims at exploring the ambiguous spatial quality of the “inbetween’ space through the blurred boundary and applying the tangling spatial experience to architecture.
