FAQ Entry #451

Home > Support > Frequently Asked Questions > 451

This is a respond to a previously asked question about the A' Design Award and Competition. The full list of frequently asked questions can be accessed here.

#451: I got an email about exhibition shipment custom duty fees, what is this about! Is not the exhibition is free?

Exhibition is free for sure for our professional edition winners. If you are asked to pay extra fees for custom duties, then the issue is related to the value of the item you note during shipment. Normally, smaller amounts are not subject to a customs duty fee, and therefore most designers will note a symbolic amount, however if you note a high value for your work when you are shipping it, your work will most likely stuck at customs, as written in terms and agreements, when your work is stuck at customs, we pay up to a certain amount to retrieve your work, we pay money to the government to be able to withdraw your work from customs, plus there is always additional input and effort from us required to complete the procedure such as filling documents that indicate whether the object is safe for import as well as invoices to be paid to couriers and invoices to be prepared for you for paying us the fees for the custom duties so that we could pay the custom duties to couriers who pay the duties to the government. Now you think we are charging you extra for exhibition, but it is absolutely not the case; you are getting charged only because you indicate a high value for your item and because we were obliged to pay these fees to the courier who would otherwise send your item back to you.
