#228: I see the furniture design competition states that the packaging is to be part of the design. I see that the winners do not include packaging and the primary image requirements do not mention anything about packaging. Is packaging a part of the furniture design submission?
Packaging design for furniture design submissions is not required, however it is written that the designs will be judged also based on their packaging in the briefing text because the full category name is "furniture, decorative items and home-ware design", decorative items and home-ware objects are usually smaller than furniture designs and are more likely to feature a packaging component, furthermore, packaging, installation details, set-up manuals etc, are usually submitted as a part of the PDF documentation if required for some furniture pieces which require set-up by users, therefore that is why you wouldn't see these details in the images. (Uploaded PDF Documents are not shared with public, as they sometimes contain sensitive data, technical drawings etc.) In summary, packaging is not a major component unless your design should be assembled by the end-user, or client who would purchase the design, if your design needs set-up by users such as flat-pack furniture, some cash-and-carry products, packaging design should be submitted as a part of the PDF documentation that explains your designs further.
