FAQ Entry #212

Home > Support > Frequently Asked Questions > 212

This is a respond to a previously asked question about the A' Design Award and Competition. The full list of frequently asked questions can be accessed here.

#212: What are moodboards and how can I submit them?

First of all, Moodboards are optional and are not required, however they might be valuable as they could be helpful for jury members to understand your design further, and to form an emotional bond. Moodboards are compilation of images that were used by you to derive the initial inspiration for your designs. A Moodboard is a busy image, a composition, consisting of visuals of elements and attributes that you might like to incorporate in your design. Many moodboards incorporate: material choices, the overall feeling such as soft, sharp, young, fast etc, and color choices. You can submit the moodboard for your design in two ways: Firstly, you could include the moodboard in the PDF presentation, in this case there are not any limits, or you could submit your moodboard as an optional image to your submission (1800x1800 pixels), we suggest you to use optional image slot 4 or 5. Please note that, while submitting moodboards as an optional image, you can only use the images that you hold the copyright of (such as purchased stock images, your own photography etc) as these images will be printed and appear in the media. For the PDF document however, you are more free to include images of others as long as it falls under fair-usage and non-commercial communication as PDF documents are only viewed by jury members and are not made available to public.
