About Francisco Margarita : In Chico Margarita’ studio, he develops and produces in wood, in an artisanal way, furniture, lamps and artistic and authorial panels (wall art). His pieces, with and without marquetry, have an organic and exclusive design, which value fine finishing and quality work in raw wood. STATEMENT OF ART:His artisanal manufacturing process includes traditional woodworking practices. Fine adjustment of fittings and rounding are done manually. The organic trace, the curve and the innovative design guarantee the contemporaneity of what he does. And the result is pure art. In a tireless search for beauty, he creates intuitively, for inspiration, in a process of great sensitivity. He likes to give life to the new that inhabits him and the many ideas that are waiting to be born. First, he falls in love with the piece of furniture he idealizes; only then he thinks about how to make it feasible. He puts carpentry - the technique - at the service of inspiration, of the idea, of what moves him internally. Never the other way around. In his work, wood is the center of production. He reveres it and personally chooses the most beautiful parts to be highlighted in each piece of furniture, at each angle. He evaluates the coloring, the veins, the natural designs and how each aspect can be better valued in what he is producing. He is that person who smells the woods, touches the tree trunks and appreciates the textures. And it is a great achievement for him when the furniture is born. Chico Margarita's art is a way of showing people the beauty of nature and wood. A gratitude to centenary trees for transforming them into beautiful and durable pieces. Thanks also to the rich nature of beautiful Brazil, which presents us with an incredible variety of woods. A way of giving visibility to what human hands are capable of doing, and which are often not replicable by machines. Reinforce the role of beauty in our lives. That beauty is what moves us and, touches us in our deep. The finishes he uses are based on Tung oil, Carnauba and bee wax. These are raw materials from renewable resources, with low environmental impact and biodegradable (Tung does not contain solvents that harm nature). Resistant and durable, perfect for protecting wooden objects and furniture, they do not stain with water. They protect and value the wood and the work done with them, because they maintain its natural appearance. The Tung is a tree native to southern China, that reaches up to 20 meters in height. Its fruit, similar to a pear, has 4 or 5 large seeds that are rich in oil. Chico Margarita’s customers buy art, beauty inspired by nature, creativity, exclusivity, sensitivity, elegant marquetry with innovative applications (curved planes, continuity on different sides of the piece, going beyond the boxes and smaller objects we usually see), the reverence for wood and its natural characteristics, the 'handmade' with intuition, heart and soul, in addition to personal, attentive, spontaneous, careful and committed service. For Chico Margarita, working with wood is giving vent to a great and old passion, which started as a hobby. His business, started in 2017 in the city of Embu das Artes, in São Paulo - Brazil, with the mission of rescuing, praising and bringing beauty to people's lives - the beauty of nature, which moves, which surprises, which is unique - considering the transforming power of human hands and the vent for the most genuine intuition and inspiration. He produces furniture and art with the ambition to provoque positive experiences: The house should be the main refuge of a person, of a family. One’s safe haven, a cozy, welcoming environment. An admirable space, that makes the person feel proud, that translates his personality, identity and values. Not a house that can be anyone's. But your home, which fits you perfectly. That place you like to look, feel, admire, share. It has to be beautiful in your eyes - people like to be in a beautiful location. In this sense, beauty, added to art, the artist's sensitivity, innovation and exclusivity, brings well-being, welcomes, generates identification, excites, moves. Chico Margarita creates and produces artistic furniture with that in mind – that they are original, special productions that awaken the desire for contemplation and that, above all, move people. In addition, he understands that unique furniture configures special pieces for those who choose them and, with that, become a 2nd and long life for wood. Pieces like that are unlikely to be replaced, which greatly contributes to the sustainability of our beloved planet. We are talking about craft production, 100% handmade with intuition, heart and soul. Organic and exclusive trait, appreciation of the fine finish and quality work in raw wood. The wood used is Brazilian and of legal origin and each piece sold reverts to the planting of trees native to the Atlantic Forest (a very important ecosystem in Brazil), through the partnership Chico Margarita’s Studio has with the NGO Iniciativa Verde (more than 200 trees replanted so far). His pieces bring out the qualities of Brazilian wood and the work he does to honor it. Wood, which is the main element of his work, gives him the opportunity to express the elaborate design in a highly intuitive and soulful way, inspired by Nature, an inexhaustible source of beauty. Chico Margarita feels that his art is a way of showing people the beauty of nature and wood. A gratitude to the century-old trees by transforming them into beautiful and durable furniture. Thanks also to the rich nature of beautiful Brazil, which presents us with an incredible variety of woods. A way of reinforcing the role of beauty in our lives. Two of his pieces were recognized by the Museu da Casa Brasileira Design Award, the most important design award in Brazil. And in August 2022, he was awarded the 8th Brazilian Object Award from the A Casa Museum, with the CABRAL Stool. Design has a responsibility with the innovation of form, aesthetics and function, with production, its limitations and impositions: the possibilities of raw materials, what can be produced, the financial viability of this product in the industry. Design necessarily presupposes a relationship with society, with the client, the market, with whom his work will be consumed. Design can follow trends, be tied to them. Art does not have this responsibility with anyone involved, only with the own artist. It is a pure expression of the artist. Your only responsibility is a self-enchantment. It's giving vent to something from within the artist. It's something strong. Do what you are. Communicating something, expressing feelings, thoughts, a will, without the responsibility of being accepted. Art does not follow trends or fads. It can launch fashion or trends or be inspired by them, but it is not attached to them. Art can combine with design. I, particularly, transit between the two, I do both at the same time. Due to my sensitivity and connection with the world I live in, my art talks a lot with design. I think that's why I reach more people with the expression of my art. I take the opportunity to share here a text that translates a little more my vision of what Art is. Art for me is an expression of the soul, a way of letting out myself, my feelings, my thoughts, my desires. A way to overflow how I see the world and to share what I value, what I want to communicate with the aim of adding something valuable to the other person, to transform people. In my case, I want to convey the beauty, the nature, the wood, the transformational power of human being. Art is not about being useful. It's not about pure and simple innovation. Many times it brings new things, but not as the main focus, innovation for innovation's sake, just in order to do something different. Art has to be an innovation that comes with something else: a bit of soul and heart. Art doesn't take into account the viable, the trends or the saleable. The likelihood to be successful or the chances to be made. Art isn’t about industry or how machines will make it possible. In my experience, art is simply born out of me and it's polished in the field of ideas. But the solutions to make it real are thought after inspiration has come up and after I have already fallen in love with it. Then, there's no way out but to try hard and find out ways to make my dream come true. For me art takes into consideration, more than anything else, the inner self, the truth, the intimate. It arises in a conversation with myself, with my life experiences, perhaps inspired by the divine. And because art is so truthful and genuine, it connects with other people's inner selves. Art gives a sense of purpose to the artist's life and the need to, first of all, delight himself, be moved and flow out feelings. Afterwards, the artist needs to accomplish his mission to touch and surprise other people. This is the reason for art to exist.
