The philosophy behind the design company is that human beings have an innate need to manipulate his surroundings and the handmade lamps appeal to a creative collaboration between designer and user. Artist and designer Birgit Østergaard works internationally as a textile artist and an extensive knowledge of materials plays an important role in the continued development of custom-designed sculptural lighting projects and luminous sculptures for exhibitions and private consumers.
My design practice is located at the interface between art and design and appears to act as a challenge to the normative distinction between the two areas. Good design is never created solely out from aesthetic criteria but is an expression of the spirit of the times and inscribes itself in an era on straight line with fine arts.
