Interview with Bywater at Thursday 20th of April 2023 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? B: I loved to make things, so I found myself designing things. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? B: A company that manufactures and sells beautifully designed. FS: What is "design" for you? B: Design is a means to an end. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? B: Things we use in our daily life. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? B: Simple, functional and beautiful design. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? B: Shoes FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? B: Traditional technique. FS: When do you feel the most creative? B: When I am looking at something FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? B: Simplicity. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? B: Exciting. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? B: Exciting. FS: What makes a design successful? B: To envision the user's usage scenario. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? B: Whether it feels good or not. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? B: Sustainability. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? B: I think the required meaning of design is becoming more important. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? B: Undecided. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? B: To see something beautiful. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? B: Simple, functional and beautiful design. FS: Where do you live? FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? B: A good designer is one who understands your purpose. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? B: Imagine the scene or benefit the user will use the item and start designing. I try to make the design as simple and intuitive as possible. FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? B: I don't Know. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? B: Imagine the user's usage scenario. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? B: To see things from different perspectives. FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? B: Adobe,Paper,Pen.Inspiration is what I've seen so far. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? B: Work hard. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? B: Depends on the subject. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? B: Nothing in particular. FS: What was your most important job experience? B: Everything. FS: Who are some of your clients? B: I design for my own company. FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? B: Everything. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? B: I would like to design items that utilize materials that have never been used before. I have several plans. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? B: Myself. FS: Do you have any works-in-progress being designed that you would like to talk about? B: Design using traditional Japanese crafts. FS: How can people contact you?
