FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
RK: From a young age, my fascination with art, design and nature was nurtured by my parents. Hiking from the age of four deepened my love for the natural world, but witnessing (seemingly) small human-caused disruptions in nature bothered me. Determined to make a difference, I merged my creative inclinations with a mission to raise awareness and inspire change. This ongoing journey has inspired my work through which I strive to depict the beauty of our world and shed light on our collective responsibility for its preservation as I seek to harmonize art, nature, and humanity for a sustainable future.
FS: When do you feel the most creative?
RK: I find my highest level of creativity and inspiration just after visiting captivating exhibition spaces and design festivals such as Dutch Design Week, Milan Design and such. The electrifying atmosphere, the presence of fellow creatives and the ever-so interesting conversations with them stimulate my imagination, fueling the birth of innovative ideas.
FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
RK: My design process is a meticulous exploration, delving into every conceivable aspect. Yet, often, my utmost emphasis lies in understanding how all entities, be it humans, nature, animals, or plants, will interact with it. Employing an empathetic design approach, I strive to foster experiences that are as user-friendly and inclusive as possible.
