Interview with Autobahn at Friday 28th of June 2024 FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? A: Autobahn is a Dutch creative studio located in Haarlem and Rotterdam. The studio was founded in 2005 by creative directors Rob Stolte and Maarten Dullemeijer. As a design partner we commit ourselves to creating playful, intelligent and beautifully crafted projects for all platforms and all audiences. Autobahn pursues a welcoming studio culture and collaborates with a large network of specialists to realise ambitious ideas and create positive impact. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? A: Branding, identities and processes. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? A: The first sthing we designed for a company was a flyer for an art gallery. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? A: I do not have a favorite platform, material or technology because I like to experiment a lot. FS: When do you feel the most creative? A: In the morning. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? A: The idea that connects in a surprising way. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? A: Happyness. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? A: Relief FS: What makes a design successful? A: The idea that connects in a surprising way. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? A: The idea and execution. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? A: More inclusive design is needed. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? A: In Düsseldorf, at an art gallery. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? A: Books on philosophy, especially Vilém Flüsser. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? A: Playful Analytical and typographic FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? A: The Netherlands FS: Who are some of your clients? A: Refugee talent Hub, SeederDeBoer, New Music Now, TNO. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? A: Opening a gallery in Rotterdam! FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? A: We work as a team.
