FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
QJ: TO be a designer is my dream.When I was young,may be 10 years old,I had already noticed that the carpenter is not a worker but an artist .The Chinese furniture is not just the wood but the art of wood.
FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
QJ: Our company had opened for ten years ,and loadcated in the west of China.now,there are 20 persons in our team.
FS: What is "design" for you?
QJ: It is my life!
FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
QJ: Exhibition
FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
QJ: In every exhibition case,we must know many things ,such as the local cultures ,customs and practices.All of these are very interesting.
FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
QJ: A house for the exhibition.
FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
QJ: wood!
FS: When do you feel the most creative?
QJ: a new case in a new place with new cultures.
FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
QJ: natural and cultural
FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
QJ: respect
FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
QJ: I think it is very exciting.
FS: What makes a design successful?
QJ: maybe respect for everybody and everything.
FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
QJ: respect.
FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
QJ: In all cases,we must respect the natural and save the environment.
