Interview with Kirstin Fu-Ying Wang at Tuesday 17th of November 2020 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? KFW: I was studying my bachelor of interior design degree in Queensland University of Technology where I found my passion in the world of interior design. I have been working as an interior designer for many years and I am still feel excited about my work . FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? KFW: Spaceblossom design is a diverse and creative practice that specializes in the design of interior architecture. With considerable experience delivering projects with hospitality, residential, retail and corporate , our extensive expertise in diverse types of projects embodies each client’s unique interests to create signature design that stand out. We believe all facets of design are essential in delivering a successful project. Our studio has collaborated with like-minded Designers, Architects , 3D visualizers, and Graphic Designers achieving outstanding results. FS: What is "design" for you? KFW: Design is process of problem solving and making the world a better and prettier place. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? KFW: My most favourites work is hotel design as it is fun, exciting and challenging and it can bring so much to a lot of people. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? KFW: My most favorite design is Four Point Hotel in Chang-Chun, China. I spent my time and my heart in the concept design and design development. I had good collaboration with clients and they are very happy for the result. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? KFW: An event venue for new t-shirts release . FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? KFW: My favorite material to work with is metal because it has so much potential. It is hard and yet flexible . FS: When do you feel the most creative? KFW: A quite time by myself . FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? KFW: the coexistance between aesthetic and functionality FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? KFW: cheerful and energetic FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? KFW: happy and content FS: What makes a design successful? KFW: "I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen." -Frank Lloyd Wright FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? KFW: good FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? KFW: Design is aiming to make the world a better place, keeping this in mind, a good design is responsible for a clean environment and green. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? KFW: My future plan is to develop a strong design team and advise our brand. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
