Interview with Filipe Francisco at Thursday 28th of March 2019 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? FF: I start to work in 1998 and design a lot of engineering and architecture to other professionals in Portugal. Since my 15 years old i want to be Architect. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? FF: Our company was founded in March 2007 with the desire to become a reference company in the field of Architecture and Construction. Since then we have grown a lot in every project that we have materialized in every experience we have had to reach today with the success recognized by all. FS: What is "design" for you? FF: The Design have to be a unique experience for the user is either an object or a building. Create a different experience, unique where we can awaken the sensitivity of the observer. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? FF: Hotels and residences. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? FF: One residence in Famalicão, Portugal. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? FF: Marmol and wood. FS: When do you feel the most creative? FF: All the time FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? FF: The colors, Shape, textures and the experience. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? FF: Happiness FS: What makes a design successful? FF: For me one Design that the persons like it. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? FF: The overall picture FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? FF: For the environment it will always be a challenge to be able to intervene with materials more environmentally friendly and this will be one of the great contributions to society. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? FF: Hotels. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? FF: Yes and no. Because we are citizens of the world. FS: How do you work with companies? FF: With budgets and objectives. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? FF: The people FS: What skills are most important for a designer? FF: Creativity FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? FF: With good software and work hard. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? FF: Depend of the scale. 1 month is the minimum. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? FF: The theme of the work. FS: What was your most important job experience? FF: Hairlines, Hair Salon, Paços de Ferreira, Portugal FS: Who are some of your clients? FF: Lóreal Portugal FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? FF: Hotels and residences because in the Hotels we have the oportunity to develop our creativity 100% wihout limitations. And the residences it is because we talk direct with the person that lives in the design. FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? FF: Make Hotels it was my dream.
