Interview with Nishit Gupta at Thursday 23rd of May 2019 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? NG: I am a Product Designer, a recent graduate from ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California. I truly aspire to influence and create positive change in this world. I aim to help people and organizations to visualize a positive future and an uplifted lifestyle. FS: What is "design" for you? NG: Design to me is about creating valuable change. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? NG: I am interested in designing for the future, innovation in wearable technology and consumer electronics. FS: When do you feel the most creative? NG: My creative neurons are sparking most when I participate in a healthy lifestyle of meditation, eating good and exercising on a regular basis. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? NG: Finding human-centered insights using qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. FS: What makes a design successful? NG: Good design is inclusive and user-centered. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? NG: To showcase and inspire a positive future. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? NG: The best inspiration comes from well researched and defined insights and opportunities. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? NG: My designs act as a vehicle for interesting conversations. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? NG: 1. Story and Value are always greater than the product itself. 2. Empathy is the key to solving a design problem. 3. Be a sponge - Learn every day, from everyone. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? NG: Curiosity. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? NG: There is always room for improvement, a design is never complete. FS: What was your most important job experience? NG: Being part of the HP inc. innovation team.
