Have you always wanted to be a designer? LTCT: Since growing up i was inspired to become a designer. As you are aware, Hong Kong living spaces are generally small and constraint, hence its my dream to create a home which is a reflection of my personality and taste given the space constraint. To pursuit my dream, i had obtained a higher national diploma in interior design from Caledonian University in Glassgow. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? LTCT: I founded LMP International Limited in 2008 with the focus of having a one stop solution for interior design and build. Within these 10 years, LMP had managed to establish itself as reputable interior design and build company with a list of highly reputable and repetitive clientele, varies from residential, commercial and institutional sector. FS: What is "design" for you? LTCT: Design is a creation that derives from a process, from establishment of a concept to actualization of the concept. Hence i cant categorized my work preference. FS: What makes a design successful? LTCT: Design is a interpretation of ones taste and personality, and will include factors such as clients brief, practicality, budget, quality and space constraint, hence a successful design should be in general, meets the expectations and requirements of the client while incorporating all the elements as mention above. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? LTCT: Beauty lies in the eye of beholder - hence any design will have a different perspective but i would like to personally concentrate in vital factor such as practicality and the usage of space if i were to judge a design. Apart from these, design elements and usages of material and colors will be important as well. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? LTCT: Once we establish a comprehensive understanding of our client’s requirement, our team will bring all parts of design together as a whole, from design development and research of material to project management and fitting-out and building works, in order to create a vision that is unified.
