Interview with Cuneyt Dari at Saturday 5th of May 2018 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? CD: When I was a kid, I had something to do with painting and then it turned into a design. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? CD: We're a strong squad with my team. We have about 1000 spesialists. My company that designs and builds both. FS: What is "design" for you? CD: It is my life. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? CD: Hotel projects FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? CD: It's all my own designs. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? CD: The hotel reception desk. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? CD: Marble, wood, iPhone. FS: When do you feel the most creative? CD: Early in the morning. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? CD: I'm focused on all the little details. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? CD: Excitement FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? CD: Pride when visitors pay attention to my design and make a photograph. FS: What makes a design successful? CD: A hard work. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? CD: In the first place should be of good craftsmanship. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? CD: There should be professional projects that anticipate the future. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? CD: Сorrect proportions with technology. FS: When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition? CD: Miami /USA FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? CD: Mysterious cities and fairs. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? CD: The design is directly proportional to the customer's request. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? CD: In Turkey, we make designs according to the texture of Turkish culture. FS: How do you work with companies? CD: Our company has regular partners. We hold regular Presentations to attract new companies. FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? CD: They can choose from previous references and self-confidence designer. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? CD: After chatting with the client and spending some time. His wishes are shaped by our imagination. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? CD: Orange juice machine, Coffee Machine, Ironing Board, dining table, chairs. FS: Can you describe a day in your life? CD: Happy family, peaceful environment, starting the day with energy...after this design FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? CD: Many trips and explorations. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? CD: Thinking, behavior, application. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? CD: Efficiency FS: Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.? CD: Pencil, paper. FS: Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time? CD: I work with sketches. FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? CD: Depends on the situation, it may be a very short time. FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? CD: How old are you? FS: What was your most important job experience? CD: Hotel projects. FS: Who are some of your clients?
