Interview with Martin chow at Friday 28th of October 2022 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? MC: Yes, I always want to be artist or designer since secondary school. Therefore I wanted to study Fine art or Design course in university. Finally I studied BA(Hons) Interior Design in Hong Kong, further studied MA Landscape and Urbanism in London. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? MC: HOT KONCEPTS is an innovative interior design studio based in Hong Kong and Shanghai. We completed variety of projects successfully include clubhouses, residences, show flats, sales offices, retails, offices etc. The projects cover different cities at mainland China like Shenzhen, Shanghai, Suzhou, Ningbo, Chongqing, Chengdu etc. We are pride to get clients’ satisfaction and high percentage of repeat clients. Our clients include, - China Overseas Property Co. Ltd - Cofco Property Co. Ltd - China Aoyuan Property Co. Ltd’ - China Resources Land Ltd - Capitaland Investment Co. Ltd - Vanke Real Estate Co. Ltd FS: What is "design" for you? MC: Problem sloving FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? MC: Anything around our daily life. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? MC: An exhibition design that i worked with my wife. As the exhibition was about our ideal home, a story about us. It was a great opportunity to have exhabition design at the city center - XinTian in Shanghai. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? MC: Private Apartment FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? MC: Recycle, reuse materials FS: When do you feel the most creative? MC: Problem solving in a smart way. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? MC: Spacial quality FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? MC: Exciting FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? MC: Feel fantastic FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? MC: I would consider what is the fuctions of the design first, if the design would fullfill the functions in a smart solution. I think that is a good design. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? MC: I work with all colleagues as a team. We have daily meeting for all design issues. FS: How can people contact you?
