FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
AFAD: Azimuth for Architecture & Design is your direction towards the summit. The azimuth word originates from medieval Arabic al-sumut, pronounced as-sumut in Arabic. Azimuth studio founded in 2015 as an architectural and engineering consultancy practice based in Al Madina, Saudi Arabia led by an experienced and inspirational team. We work with our clients to create livable and regional designs. - Azimuth as a word means "clear road". - Azimuth as a meaning refers to the philanthropists. - Azimuth as a term refers to the angle between the projected vector and a reference vector on the reference plane.
FS: What is "design" for you?
AFAD: I believe that design is a creative process done by a special group of people who have enough experience and knowledge to improve human life
FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
AFAD: We are an architectural office specializing in all types of creative design, but we prefer to design residential and commercial buildings with a contemporary identity and a modern style as appropriate with our Arab identity
FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
AFAD: Our first project was the interior design of a luxury residential villa within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Medina. A combination of traditional and modern elements has been adopted during the design process to create a comfortable and intimate atmosphere for users.
FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
AFAD: Within the office we deal with a wide range of materials, however we prefer to use local materials suitable for the environment of the city and its identity like Riyadh stone & marble ..etc But this does not preclude the use of modern materials like Alucobond & Aluminum
FS: What skills are most important for a designer?
AFAD: The designer should have the creative ability and intelligence to match the user's requirements with the design process.
FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end?
AFAD: There is no specific period for the design process. It follows the size, type and specificity of the project.
