Interview with Naoyuki Fukumoto at Saturday 20th of October 2018

FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
NF: I was pursuing art since junior high school days. The first university majored in the course of oil painting and in the second university majoring in the arts science, I got tired of the old-fashioned educational system and both dropped out. Also, as I met the Internet in my school days, I began with the direction to design the web site itself, expressing there, expressing the photographs that I was taking, and starting my career first in the digital field .

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
NF: I run a design studio on an individual basis. Some listed companies and companies with histories have companies that can not trade unless they are legal personnel, and they make it a corporate entity from the necessity (although there are many troublesome things in terms of taxation) Photographers, writers, designers, etc. Working with the outside staff in cooperation.

FS: What is "design" for you?
NF: I think that "Neccesity" and "Beauty (art)" are in harmony.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
NF: Graphic design, art direction of website and so on. I think clients requesting me are looking for an elegant and powerful design.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
NF: Hans Wegner, Frank Lloyd Wright, Saul · bus ,,, There is no break in the list. I like designs that form an elegant and harmonious worldview.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
NF: I do not remember. Because I have designed too many things.

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
NF: It is water and metal. These textures and textures are often adopted even in my design.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
