Interview with Jenifer Blanco Monzón at Sunday 23rd of April 2017 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? JBM: After school I studied 1 year engineering but felt that that was not for me, so I got into Design and loved every part of it. I was lucky that my parents supported me all the way and got the opportunity tu study in a very good design institute (one of the best in Caracas Venezuela actually). Then I moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina and studied Art Direction that gave me a more integral knowledge. I learn about photography, history, advertising and much more. I always liked crafting and that is what I do in my free time. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? JBM: Jen Blanco Design Studio is a place full of creativity where the search for inspiration and happiness never stops. The set design, art direction and photography are combined in almost every project, looking for the best ways to communicate an idea. Passion, enthusiasm and integrity are never going to lack on this Studio, so is fun and collaboration. Make play into work & work into play! FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? JBM: Projects that involve crafting, painting, lettering, photography or all of them combined! FS: When do you feel the most creative? JBM: When I am creating, because when you are in the middle of a project you always get more and more ideas, hence get more and more excited about it. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? JBM: The concept. I believe that a project always has to have a concept that represent it. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? JBM: Enthusiastic. Energetic. Happy. Content! FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? JBM: Completely happy. Proud of myself and the ones that helped me in any way. FS: What makes a design successful? JBM: When a design in understood without the need to explain it I believe it is successful. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? JBM: if it communicates what it was men to communicate. If it is well executed, it has clean finishes. If it has a well thanked chromatic palette. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? JBM: I loved to surf the web. Watch others work, watch movies, photography exhibitions, go to museums, take a walk, listen to music. Creativity comes from all around us! FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? JBM: I think I do not have a specific style. I like to use different materials and mediums. Explore different concepts and adapt to the project I am working. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? JBM: I am from Venezuela but currently live in Argentina. I think I have been influenced by both Venezuela and Argentina. They are two super different cultures but at the same time we are all Latinos. Venezuela has a tropical and Caribbean flavor and Argentina has a more European touch. If you combine those two, you get me! I love to put lots of colors and passion into my projects and I am sure that I got that from the combination of both countries. FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? JBM: I do both but I love working with a team because the more people there are in the project, the richer the result. FS: How can people contact you? JBM: Through my website www.jenblanco.com or Instagram, Behance & LinkedIn through my handle @jenblancodesign or in any case my mail jeniferblancodesign@gmail.com
