Interview with Chen Yuru at Sunday 23rd of April 2017 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? CY: I was exposed to industrial design in the University, I really love this art, I am also very interested in the design of the product, it will let me fall into a reverie, open mind, doing design will allow me to add more knowledge, when I was a childhood dream is to become a designer, I want to create more design that can add some color to the world. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? CY: I don't have my own studio, I'm a college student,But I believe I will have a studio in the near future. FS: What is "design" for you? CY: Design is a pursuit of the perfect attitude towards life, design is a taste of life FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? CY: Product design FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? CY: Form follows function, outline the most spiritual space with very simple lines, a pleasant space, a noble life, an exclusive world, are seeking to express the most appropriate here, improve people's quality of life; improve people's physical and mental health; improve people's property safety; create the taste of life. FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? CY: I haven't started working FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? CY: I am a Chinese, I love my hometown, so I am very fond of Chinese traditional culture and technology, such as ceramic art, as well as wood, bamboo, rattan, composite materials, leather, textiles, paper, etc FS: When do you feel the most creative? CY: When I take part in exhibitions, read some books and experience them, I will have some inspiration and, of course, listen to some songs. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? CY: I am more focused on the design of product functionality, which is the positioning of this product. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? CY: I have an experience point of view to feel the design, a new idea for the new design hungry Oh full of passion and expectations. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? CY: When my design was realized, I was excited and happy. FS: What makes a design successful? CY: Unremitting efforts to continue to adhere to, very high interest and the teacher's teaching. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? CY: Ability to design, including tools, design ideas, creative performance The ability to grasp the problem, understand the customer's customers, products, industry and other related information. Some people may say that the design depends on the designer's appearance. FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? CY: Design creation is a conscious and purposeful social behavior, not a designer's "self-expression"". As the designer of the design, the designer should be clear about their social responsibility, consciously use the design for social services, for the benefit of mankind.Designers should pay attention to the principle of good to have a sense of service, to have the correct values. FS: How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design? CY: Product design is a complete basis for future development of new ideas for the design of creative design, the future may not be acceptable for contemporary people, but it is the people of the future life of beautiful vision, is the design of future social picture and new life style. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to explore the unknown, constantly looking for new design concepts and new design language, and constantly understand the development trend of the design, with the development of science and technology and constantly improve themselves. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? CY: The sense that something difficult to describe, but the inspiration comes from life, such as dinner, and friends to chat, shopping time and so on; sometimes the flash of inspiration in a moment split in my opinion, more need to accumulate and record inspiration. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? CY: I come from Chinese China, traditional culture has a great influence on me, China joined the traditional culture in modern design elements, not only can fully display our mysterious oriental charm, but also in the international exchange process has far-reaching significance may play a role in human history and play an important role in on the world stage.China and other countries have different national conditions, involved in an important and comprehensive consideration of the national conditions, targeted design FS: How do you work with companies? CY: FS: What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer? CY: he same thing can be analyzed from several different aspects, to know the weight of each aspect and how to weigh. Peaceful and tolerant, able to accept and understand different opinions. Not only to see a small piece, but to consider the problem from the perspective of the whole system. Vision, not only focus on design. Can see the problem from the whole life cycle of the product. FS: Can you talk a little about your design process? CY: At first to develop practical plans, and then began to find problems, and set up the application of population and application areas, a large area to find information, research and practice, and then brainstorm, constantly self denial and self innovation, make use of computer aided effect. FS: What are 5 of your favorite design items at home? CY: I usually like to do some CG design at home FS: Can you describe a day in your life? CY: I usually get up early, listen to music, I will prepare a breakfast for himself, and then read and start the day's work, I will relax until the evening, some exercise, and night work, sometimes sleep a little late, but does not affect the quality of my work.My life is very regular. FS: From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer? CY: See more of the work, especially the classics and the works of the big companies. Looking for design inspiration from life, life is the largest material library. Keep trying, from imitation to innovation. Communicate with other designers, especially for the top designers. FS: What is your "golden rule" in design? CY: There must be a concept, prioritize, successively attack, according to the need to select a color, let the work everyone can understand, not to entertain, movement has caused the formation of density: rhythm and open space, to act decisively, either do according to the target, or to do not move it, making their own need, don't choose something ready-made, review the history, not to repeat the same mistakes. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? CY: When and where will try to think, try to reduce their pressure, with a relaxed mood to design FS: How long does it take to design an object from beginning to end? CY: About 6 months FS: What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer? CY: Overly constrained design exploration process, premature refinement of product details, good products are not necessarily good implementation, clear design purposes, to avoid over design FS: What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why? CY: I like team work very much, I like to communicate with others and accept the opinions of others more easily FS: What are your future plans? What is next for you? CY: At present, just want to do a good job of design, and more accumulation of good works.
