Interview with Hsin Ting Weng at Saturday 31st of March 2018 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? HTW: When studying, the Department is the visual communication design, everthing about design are very interested in the work after understanding the space is particularly interested in the changes, and then the way to space design development until now. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? HTW: Ris Interior Design Co., Ltd. was established at Taichung city, Taiwan, in 2013. A group of design manias pursues timeless elegance and coexistence with utilitarian in interior space. The company dedicates to both classic aesthetics and contemporary solution on every project, aiming on long-term progress and sustainable connection with fashion, culture, society. FS: What is "design" for you? HTW: Each designer does have own design style, for me, can be meaningful, not back to the popular design, will be my design goals, and make every design has exquisite details in which FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? HTW: Favorite design are many and different,like material, culture to mix and design, can express their unique language about design. FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it? HTW: Favorite design are many and different,like material, culture to mix and design, can express their unique language about design. FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology? HTW: Perhaps because it is not in the college period is to study space design, so the design of the technology are derived from the real work of practical experience, there is no limited style. FS: When do you feel the most creative? HTW: Everywhere and every time. FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing? HTW: In addition to modelling design, the poetic style of materials, the use of work method, the future customer maintenance difficulty, should be the process of attention. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design? HTW: At the beginning of design, enjoy the imagination of the most imaginative. FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized? HTW: How many times have completed the project, often see the finished product, are filled with moving. FS: What makes a design successful? HTW: Exactly make correct use of the material in the right place, and can do with the integration with various other materials and aesthetic. FS: When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first? HTW: For customers, the design is good or bad, depends on whether to meet the needs of owners FS: From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment? HTW: Help everyone that up the live level and quality,higher aesthetics. FS: Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations? HTW: Design is inspired by the subtle observations of life, keeping a certain focus on all the details of life, and keeping a constant stream of inspiration. FS: How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design? HTW: Although Taiwan has not been colonized by Holland and Portugal for too long, European-style buildings are scattered around and deeply influenced me, so I like to add some of these elements in my design. FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country? HTW: Taiwan, FS: Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers? HTW: For up and coming designers, i would suggest them not to just conform to what customers demand but to focus on what you, as a designer, want. Also, every time when their customers ask for revision, they could see it as a chance to learn instead of seeing it as an obstruction. In this way, things will get better. FS: What skills are most important for a designer? HTW: but the skills to communicate with client, how to express the imagination of the design, also always necessary skills. FS: Who are some of your clients? HTW: Residential and commercial space FS: Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself? HTW: Team work FS: How can people contact you?
