FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
JM: I was influenced by various architects and designers. Frank Lloyd Wright is one of them. His Imperial Hotel Tokyo, Fallingwater and Taliesin are great work for me.

FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
JM: My studio, JAM. is the proceeded and shared style design team.

FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
JM: I'm interested in any kind of space and landscape. Particularly, it is small space. Because, it is possible to concentrate my mind and care on all details and things.

FS: What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
JM: It is the design with the rationality and the minimum functionality, which has details that do not force you into any excess in human consciousness.

FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company?
JM: White Temple, Kyoto, 2000 - Takashi Yamaguchi & Associates

FS: What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
JM: Glass, Steel, Wood, Stone

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
JM: I can understand when I design.

FS: What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
JM: I can't understand my design when it completed.

FS: What makes a design successful?
JM: Maybe, it's communication. Communication with the client, the contractor, and many carpenters.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
