FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
KNAW: The design of KRYSTAL Nature’s Alkaline Water (KRYSTAL) is a collaborative effort across the brand owner, operation and marketing teams. The bottle design is rooted in our understanding of consumer’s desire for luxurious and healthy lifestyle.
FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
KNAW: KRYSTAL® is developed and operated by a dedicated team of international experts. We are committed to responsibly providing the highest quality natural alkaline water, while at the same time endeavouring to preserve the natural surroundings and the community, so as to ensure minimal impact to the environment. Ensuring world-class standards in water quality is a paramount concern for us. We have established stringent international standards that our team rigorously adheres to. We are dedicated to our guiding principle and philosophy: making the finest quality water available for a healthy population.
FS: Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
KNAW: We aimed to strike the sensitive balance of design aesthetics and functionality. The transparent and square PET bottle design of KRYSTAL water, with its smooth rounded edges, is visually striking and is easy to hold. In addition, the square-shaped bottle design is recyclable, optimizes packaging space and materials, thus lowers the overall carbon footprint.
FS: Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
KNAW: Hong Kong, a place which is pluralistic and tolerant, featuring a rich culture and traditions. Hong Kong people value creativity and originality. This helps us to create the design of KRYSTAL which showcases a strong personality and visual impact.
