Interview with Marcela Vavrušková at Thursday 18th of April 2013 FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer? MV: I was interested in art from my young age. I was studying an art and craft glass school, and also I continued with art and design on university. Design and especially glass are my live senses. FS: Can you tell us more about your company / design studio? MV: My design studio was founded recently, but me and my colleagues working in glass and design area for years. Fractal Atelier is design studio focused on young fresh and unconventional design, mostly in glass as material. FS: What is "design" for you? MV: The big part of my live. The way how to tell my feelings and how express the estethical values. The happyness to create something useful, functional and beautiful. FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most? MV: Glass works. The vases, glasses, glass tiles, glass walls, sculptures, furniture FS: What was the first thing you designed for a company? MV: Fractalic is the first work - and it was the reason why found my studio. FS: What makes a design successful? MV: The function in cooperation with beauty. Harmony of whole project. The indeed idea.
