FS: Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
NYAS: I was born and raised in Hong Kong, China. Hong Kong is a kaleidoscope of cultures and a sophisticated fusion of East and West, which led me to experience the contrast of traditional and modern living environments. In 2004, I studied in Vallejo, a city located in the San Francisco Bay Area, as an exchange student. I am currently living in Los Angeles and graduated in 2012 with a BFA in Product Design at Otis College of Art and Design.
FS: What is "design" for you?
NYAS: I aim to help people have a balanced and healthy life. I am especially interested in bringing nature into urban modern life, and reminding people of the beauty and culture that we have forgotten and neglected.
FS: What kinds of works do you like designing most?
NYAS: Furniture, product that people use almost daily
