| DESIGN NAME: The Intelligent Eggshell Lamp PRIMARY FUNCTION: Porcelain Nightlight INSPIRATION: We are a product design company from jingdezhen, a famous porcelain capital in China and abroad. We found out that eggshell porcelain, in the past, was the best product for the emperor, with exquisite workmanship. However, at present, they are too traditional and old fashion to be liked by young people. Therefore, we hope that through modern design language, these folk arts that may not conform to the functions and aesthetics of contemporary society can be revived. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is a combination of traditional hand-made eggshell porcelain and modern voice control light. It is an attempt to revive the folk arts that may not conform to the functions and aesthetics of contemporary society. The housing is ergonomic with a tapered design which is not only curved back to fit nicely in your hand, but also not easy to be knocked over. The point-line-surface carved texture like a shining night sky in the light. It can also have your hands free for the voice control function. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is a combination of traditional hand-made eggshell porcelain and modern voice control light. It can be either an ornament or a useful product, you can say Hi to ask it open or close the light which can have your hands free. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2019 in Jingdezhen and finished in December 2019 in Jingdezhen. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Lighting Products and Fixtures Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The eggshell porcelain has to go through more than 40 working procedures and hundreds of times of repeated fettling and carving, burnt in three times, finally the thickness of the porcelain is within 1 mm. The other is how to assemble the porcelain lampshade onto the electronic components accurately.
