| DESIGN NAME: Lucky Plate PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Ware INSPIRATION: The lucky plate is a set of plates that endow clover the meaning of luck, auspice and love. This innovative plate designs with emotions and a good taste. When you are at table, a simple and solid plate with food on its middle makes a delicate combined pattern, a gradation from deep to shallow. The luck plate itself also symbolizes the "gentleness&quo UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In Chinese tradition,The concept of the lucky plate derives from the figure of “four-leaf clover” which means hope, giving, love and happiness. This is a set of exquisite four-leaf clover dinner plates, which are flexible and can be used in the modern food industry, to form a rich modeling. With this design, people no more need to worry about sauce dripping like traditional plates when we remove food from the plate. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This plate is designed to place cutlery in grooves after a meal. We usually put our cutlery on plate and desk when we enjoy our meal, which makes our hands or other exposed parts become dirty. Etiquette is used to encourage good table manners. It has four grooves located on the edge of plate. Two can stop the cutlery during the meal, while the other two are used to place the cutlery, which means the meal is over. These two sets of grooves have different usage when we use cutlery, which plays a important role in dining etiquette. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in June, 2018 in Macao，and finished in September, 2018 in Jingdezhen, China. It has not been exhibited yet. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The production of this set of products was completed in Jingdezhen. Jingdezhen has a millennium of ceramic culture and history. The material is made of high temperature and environmental protection porcelain. It is safe, nontoxic, environmentally healthy and can be placed in microwave oven. It is made of high quality clay,repaired and bonded, the body of which is dry and glazed. Finally, the product is made by burning.It collects Jingdezhen ceramic culture and traditional Chinese aesthetics. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 24.0cm wide 24.0cm high temperature 3.0cm high temperature environmental protection porcelain, processing process is material selection, billet, molding, glazing, burning. TAGS: Ceramic tableware, product design, emotional design, function, aesthetics, White Cutlery RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research involved a creation of functional Decorative Items that affective and playful environment with functionality, practicality and aesthetically as an approach. This project is set to better inherit and promote traditional Chinese culture. kiln chambers, and glaze institutes are frequented.Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Rhino3D NURBS, etc.are used for preliminary design and modelling. And the structure is simple, the shape is reasonable, and it is suitable for daily life,which are flexible and can be used in the modern food industry, to form a rich modeling. CHALLENGE: During the process of firing, many problems such as deformation and cracking needed to be solved. Deformation and cracking affected the RQP in production which meant that it was very difficult to use white clay in the process of molding. Finally, the clay with higher hardness was selected as raw material to make this plate.
