| DESIGN NAME: Sun Bathed Greenery PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: With the experience of living abroad, the client has experienced many boutique hotels through his journeys, so in this project, it has seen the design incorporating a neutral color tone and simple modern design so that the grey-scale, black metalwork and timber elements shall add to the visual layers and high quality for creating a serene residential ambiance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Through minimalist design technique with the spirit of universal design, black, beige and grey-scale color scheme without superfluous decoration was intended to create a relaxing modern residence for the client. With the large-area window for maximum natural lighting and the vista from the green park in front of the building, the public domain is of open design allowing natural lighting and ventilation to embellish such flowing space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As the client was very environmentally conscious, the TV wall adopted a marble-patterned artificial masonry slate complemented by black metalwork to express a clean-line quality. With the original partition wall removed, the study and the living room remain connected both visually and acoustically while allowing sunlight to flow throughout the interior. The interior was also allocated as the yoga room and study. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was completed in October 2018 in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In such elegant space, complemented by smooth steel-brushed timber veneer, special paint, marble-patterned artificial masonry slate, and imported tiles, etc., a warm and layered aesthetics was created, as the entrance was treated with masonry slates while the ceiling was treated with dark walnut pattern, and the living room was given a TV wall with imported wall tile and black metalwork for simple and clean linework, as well as having a vista wall treated with special paint and LED strip. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Upon entry through the entrance door, there is the half-transparent space defined by timber grille, before visually seeing the ultra scratch-proof timber floor, and then the hand-swiped viewing wall of special paint at the far end exhibiting glistering dark green and light grey colors, complemented by LED strips for an enriched layered visual effect. TAGS: Imported Floor And Wall Tile, Special Paint, Metal Work, Steel-Brushed Timber veneer, Marble-Patterned Artificial Masonry Slate, System Storage, Ultra Scratch-Proof Timber Floor RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The overall interior adopted a warm ambiance with timber floor and an open-plan layout. In terms of kitchen layout, island bench-top accommodates storage and light meal preparation. The furniture of the dining area is of dark walnut theme complemented by geometric painting collected by the client. With sofa back wall created a unique sense of visual layers, it also improved the overall interior circulation while master bedroom is cleverly concealed. CHALLENGE: As the viewing wall at the entrance was treated with special paint to be a visual focus, there were many back-and-forth discussion and trial work with on-site craftsman so as to ensure the end quality is as expected. There have been many adjustments for the dark walnut-patterned corridor ceiling for optimal finishing quality.
