| DESIGN NAME: Flex PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Lamp INSPIRATION: Inspired by the scene that birds rest on branch,jump and sing happily, rest quietly, and then fly away.With the easily separated structures, this lamp imitates the activity process of birds,which makes the household luminaire more flexible and functional. We select natural wood to develop products for the younger generation.It is light and portable to match the rapid shifts in space and time,which is suitable for free,dynamic lifestyle of the young.We want to create a new user experience of lighting,that is natural, affordable fashion with user-friendly techniques. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Flex Light is a series of household luminaries which each is consisted of solid wood housing illuminant,neodymium ball,metal pole and base.Under the effect of novel magnetic suction structure,the illuminant can be connected with the stand and adjusted in any direction centering on the magetic ball.Besides,the illuminant can also be separated and attached to other surfaces as a wall lamp.It is portable and flexible for daily use.It can be disassembled and assembled.The design structure make it more convenient for packaging and logistics. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: You can turn on the light and adjust three levels of illuminating brightness by touching the switch which is connected with a touch sensor into the wooden housing.Then,hold the end of lamp body to rotate it in all direction to meet usage requirement.Besides, you can also separate the mobile illuminant from the stand and use it individually.Stick the equipped magnet accessories to other surface,you can attach the illuminant in different surfaces as a wall lamp. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2016 in Guangzhou,finished structural improvement and circuit adjustment in May 2017,finished all materials test in August 2017.Flex Light were launched on TaoBao Crowdfunding Platform on December 21st,2017. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: CNC machining and profile processing are adopted in the process.Crafting wood by CNC can solve the precision problem of traditional way and be more effective to reduce the cost.So that can be feasible to make products achieve industrial standardization.The materials used in this product include solid wood, aluminum alloy, polymer battery, magnet, LED module and so on.All have passed the domestic 3C certification standard of environmental protection.Solid wood housing is coated with Belgium wax which helps products completely retain the nature texture and delicate touch. Products change from the plug-in electric cable to the wireless charging, from integration to separation,from cold metal to warm wood,from stable and static to mobile.Also, it includes the change of the mechanical connections and electrical connections, and application of magnetic suction with precision and lubrication.All of these need a lot of theoretical thinking,sample test and research.We determined the final proposals present products in minimalist form.
