DESIGN NAME: The Tiny House
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Traveling Bar
INSPIRATION: Creating a physical manifestation of what the House of Suntory house would look like. This, combined with inspiration from the popular Shinjuku Golden Gai region, the need for the activation to travel to multiple regions, and the current fascination with the tiny house movement, came the idea of a mobile Tiny House that held two bars. The house is a juxtaposition of Japanese craftsmanship and tradition while adding bold and modern touches to showcase the energy of the next generation.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We designed an experience that both captures the spirit of the brand and the attention of event-goers. To do so, we've transformed a sustainable and progressive tiny house into a transportable and elegant Japanese bar, where guests both inside and outside of the structure will be treated to the highest form of Japanese hospitality. Two micro bars serve cocktails in an intimate setting inside the house, while a hospitality lounge outside features a highball bar for guests during their wait to get inside. The outdoor area also includes interactive elements such as a kinetic sand table, a bamboo wishing tree, lounge furniture, a TV for brand content, and a spiral staircase to the rooftop.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Tiny House was seamlessly designed to be a zen and calming experience for guests who enter one of the two main bars. Crafted to be an escape from the traditional chaos of a festival, the inside features soothing music, nature-inspired color tones, and AC to escape the summer heat. Each interior bar features 5 comfortable seats that face the main bartender to further learn about the spirits, cocktails, and Japanese culture. Furthermore, a rooftop lounge space is designed to host VIP guests and media to hang out and engage more deeply with the brand and it's ambassadors.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The projection began in Brooklyn NY on June 1st, 2019 at the last ever Pop Up dinner festival. The Tiny House is on tour making its way across the United States and by its completion will have visited the following cities:

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A lot of research happened prior to launching the Tiny House. The design and build of the immersive experience needed to provide multiple experiences in one limited footprint, while following all tentative state regulations, offering flexibility based on the target festival environment, heading truck weight limitations, and embracing the elevated brand ethos. The final experience needed to educate festival-goers about these new products and create a bond to the elevated brand.
