DESIGN NAME: Silent Bull
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Electric excavator
INSPIRATION: We want design an excavator which can cross rough terrain. The inspiration of my excavator comes from millipede which can cross rough terrain freely.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This electric excavator can reduce the pollution of air and noise significantly. Compared to conventional diesel engines, it can reduce engine space for storing grab and impact head tool which making working more convenient and efficiency.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The system consists of two parts. One is movable boom supporting bridge, the other part is the movable undertaking tray arranged in the tail box. Due to the harsh construction environment, ordinary wheeled transport vehicles may not be able to transport excavator accessories such as buckets to the excavator for replacement. This design can make the excavator put the converted objects in the tailbox before entering the construction environment; if it needs to be replaced during the construction process, it can complete the self-assembly without the assistance of the truck through the cooperation of the quick-change device and the system.The suspension arm support bridge moves to the right side of the body through the movement of the small carrier vehicle under it, and then the forearm can be positioned directly above the tail box by rotating 180 degrees backward with the help of the rotating pallet under it. Subsequently, the mobile tray of the tail box moves to the lower part of the forearm, and the self-carriage and replacement can be completed through the function of the quick-change device.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The excavator can excavate the elevation in the urban construction site or the repair site of the main traffic road. It adopts the electric drive which has gradually become the trend nowadays. Because of the electrified driving, a considerable amount of space is freed up for use compared with the traditional excavator. We designed an independent delivery system for the accessory objects of the excavator in this free space. The additional buckets and hammers needed by the excavator can be placed in the rear tail box. At the same time, we also designed an automatic quick loading system for the bucket. In the design of appearance, practicability is the first element, and at the same time, we try to ensure that all the shapes are cut by geometric modeling, and the overall shape is like a trapezoid. At the same time, chamfers are used at the turning points of the body surface, which makes the edges and corners of the body modeling relatively rounded. Modular design is also adopted for each component, which can be disassembled and replaced separately.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Excavators are faced with such shortcomings of high fuel consumption, high pollution, high noise. We searched the relevant data and information from CAT, VOLVO and other brands. We find that most users suffer from high fuel consumption and poor vision of excavators by some research. The huge self-weight reduces the efficiency of moving and replacing accessories. Finally, we came up with a new solution with the help of local engineers and our school teachers.
CHALLENGE: The most difficult problem is whether the motor can be compressed into such a small space. With the help of professors from Electrical Engineering. We design this electric excavator.
