| DESIGN NAME: X One PRIMARY FUNCTION: Construction site radio INSPIRATION: Concept is based and developed to match new cordless tools platform X One, based on unique 20V battery that fits for more than 25 tools. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It features 2 speakers with stereo and mono options, bluetooth connection, usb port, aux port, fm, am and dab antenna. All functions, including on-off are controlled with center tactile wheel with clear rounded display. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Plug in to power or insert the battery Press wheel for 3s to turn on Rotate wheel and find source to play - fm, Bluetooth, usb... Press wheel Rotate wheel for volume up or volume down Press wheel to change source mode Rotate wheel and find source to play - fm, Bluetooth, usb... Turn off by pressing wheel for 3s PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2019 and finishing plan is by the end of 2019. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It's made of durable plastic and aluminium which is resistant to most of harsh environment and temperatures. Assembly includes combination combination of moulded parts and sheet aluminium. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Power source - 20V battery or power cord 220V Speakers - 2 Speakers power - 5W, 5W Radio frequency - fm, am, dab Playing time - up to 25 hours, with 20V 4Ah battery L x W x H - 265 x 138 x 138mm Weight - ca. 3.5kg, without battery TAGS: cordless, radio, bluetooth, speaker, xone, dab RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Since there was existing radio compatible with 20V battery from the range, but poorly produced in sense of design and functionality, main goal was to improve all the points in new version. Based on feedback from customers and available technology by suppliers initial concept was developed further until satisfactory final version of product. CHALLENGE: Challenge was to keep original volume size with minimum deviations and to fit 2 speakers, have space for removable battery and electronic parts. Result is symmetrical design for 2 speakers on sides, central internal space for battery and one tactile wheel on top. Compact and strong construction is made of strong plastic housing with aluminium and tpe for edges. End parts are formed in X shape as handles for easy mobility which was necessary to consider during the process.
