| DESIGN NAME: The Tenderness of Wool PRIMARY FUNCTION: Art Material INSPIRATION: Originally my research into wild wool as a material was inspired by the project-connecting wool. I decided to rule out felting, commonly used in wool manufacturing processes of everyday goods, and focus on the intertwining properties of plain wool while employing various sewing techniques. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: My experiments gave birth to thin and translucent wool-based material with distinct thread pattern, giving the impression of being both robust and ethereal. I plan to continue my investigation into the methods of expressing the delicacy and fineness of the natural aspect of wild wool and explore the ways the beauty of nature can be interwoven into our everyday life. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It can be molded from a flat surface as it is, and can be made into various three-dimensional objects by sewing methods. From there, it is possible to apply the new possibilities of wool-sewing to the interior and fashion. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2018 and finished in December 2018 in Tokyo, and was exhibited in Designers' Saturday in Switzerland in November 2018. |

CHALLENGE: Wool is already a material that everyone is very familiar with. It is the most difficult part to use it to create new designs. Fortunately, I found a new way to use it.
