DESIGN NAME: La Bombe
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging of eclair
INSPIRATION: La Bombe produces delicious eclairs from a family recipe. And with it, their stories. These stories have been translated by Laika into playful and surreal imagery, with characters that inspire lightness and an explosion of joy. The idea is that La Bombe invites you to be part of a dream.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: To compose scenes, Laika created surreal characters and scenarios that metaphorically refer to the La Bombe store and its neighborhood. The packaging that carry the eclairs are more than packaging, they are an invitation to taste the product and, above all, to gift someone special.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: La Bombe eclair packaging are used daily on a large scale. The aspect of choosing the size of the packaging impacts on the relation of choosing the quantity of products that the consumer is willing to buy. For each quantity, a specific packaging. Thus, the affective relationship with the narratives creates an atmosphere of desire for narrative and, of course, product.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2017 and finished in January 2018 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Laika method is based on the complete synergy between language skills and pictorial aspects of communication. The project begins with the construction of meaning (semiological aspect) and the need to design small graphic narratives relevant to the brand. The packaging of La Bombe is the result of an extensive branding study to compose the imagery of the La Bombe brand, both pictorially and discursively.
CHALLENGE: La Bombe produces delicious eclairs from a family recipe. And with it, their stories. The Laika challenge was to create La Bombe packaging that would bring narratives and, more than that, to compose dreamlike scenes for the brand, with unusual characters, playful and passionate about eclairs. How to be part of a dream.
