DESIGN NAME: RenyiTong
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multi-angle Connectors
INSPIRATION: The design was inspired by the restriction of a six-way joint which cannot be linked in different ways, followed by an idea to make a component that can be connected in any angle.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 1. Good extendability:The design of RenyiTong is based on joints whereas each component can be connected with each other, and if needed, more components such as three-sided, five-sided or six-sided objects can be designed to make more complicated models.
2. Broad applicabilities: The application of RenyiTong involves creative toys, daily utilities, creative designs, 3D device designs and intelligence development education, etc.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: For example, if a letter model is to be made, just connect all the components with each other. At the turning, use a joint to connect them.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project was initiated in Shantou, Guangdong on February 7, 2018 and completed in the same city on March 7, 2019.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: RenyiTong is a set of DIY connectors that can assemble various models. With definite functions, every component can be simply connected with each other, or linked through wooden sticks in round or square shape to achieve more abundant creations. Models such as toys, daily utilities, creative designs, and device production can be made with ease.
Using as fewer as possible components to rapidly form connections of points, lines and surfaces in three dimensional space, RenyiTong can help users to understand and develop three dimensional creative insights in an effective way.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was how to use the fewest components that can be interconnected freely in a rational way.
