| DESIGN NAME: Picasso PRIMARY FUNCTION: Armchair INSPIRATION: As great artist who gives name to this collection, this design tries to unfold reality in its most surprising and unexpected ways, creating a piece with a lot of personality and great character. The design shows a slight reminiscence of the art nouveau style that gives it a touch of timelessness. The ergonomic of its foaming results in being unique, creating an extremely comfortable lounge chair for relaxing, reading, as well as chatting for hours, with a classy and eloquent style. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With a completely curved structure, made of solid wood of 3 species: ash, tzalam and sapelli, it is finely foamed in hand-molded foam rubber, upholstered in natural leather with contrasting color at the seams. The structure is armed with a system of mortise and tenon, and the final size of its forms has been achieved by an expert hand in the middle, making a unique piece, with a personal style. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The unique style of this furniture makes it ideal for a luxurious room, or a study or office. Thanks to its ergonomics, it can accommodate a relaxed posture for hours, ideal for reading or talking in the heat of a good coffee or a refined cognac. Its manufacturing and its forms contain a story behind a piece of furniture beyond its forms and style, characteristic of any furniture of refined design. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The first drawings of this collection began in November 2015 and since then many versions and prototypes have been developed to arrive at this piece of ergonomic design that was completely developed in the design laboratory of Gerardo Rios. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This lounge chair, built entirely of solid wood, has practically no straight cut piece, so the structure is extremely complicated to develop and must be applied at the end, expert manual work that gives it its own unique flavor and personality to each piece of furniture. However, 5 axis CNC technology is necessary to achieve the precise and robust assemblies to obtain a durable piece of furniture for a lifetime. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 685.8mm W x 660.4mm D x 876.3mm H TAGS: Organic Furniture, Stylish Furniture, Modern Furniture, Vintage, Picasso, art nouveau, leather, hand made RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After a deep conceptual investigation of the works of the master Picasso combined with a study of the forms and styles of the design current art nouveau, the drawings of this piece of design begun with its peculiar asymmetry and capricious shape, with a style unique that evokes an art nouveau with features of the unfolding of the forms of the master Picasso CHALLENGE: The big challenge once achieved the first drawings of this design, was to bring it to reality without having any reference plane starting point, making it very complex to combine all the curved shapes with the appropriate support and robust connections that requires a high-end chair. The confection in natural leather of a structure with capricious forms is all a work of art possible only with very skilled hands. NAME: Gerardo Rios Design PROFILE: Gerardo Rios Design is a signature design brand created in 2013 as a brand. Its creator Gerardo Rios, Mexican furniture designer graduated from the University of Monterrey in 1991. and has been working on design and production of luxury furniture for the hospitality industry since then. He also owns a furniture factory with more than 100 employees with capacity of production of more than 2,500 hotel rooms a year including public areas. The factory also has upfront the Gerardo Rios Design and laboratory of prototypes with both highly skilled artisans and state of the art technology. |
