| DESIGN NAME: Table Reservation PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Table INSPIRATION: More and more people are living alone in small apartments. They often have a too big table in their kitchen, which takes much space from the room. There is a need for an adaptive solution for this issue. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In my design the initial size of the table is 40 cm x 80 cm. And if you need more space, you can get more space from the both sides of the table. The table has levels inside that pop out by when pushed. Like this it is possible to make the table three times bigger, but only when you need a bigger table. And when you do not need it anymore, you just push the extra space back inside the table to have more space. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The table levels pop up when the user pushes the edge of the level with a finger. The table space can be doubled or tripled, according to the need. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The table is made of wood. The surface is painted. The levels inside the table move with a metal sliding system. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 400 mm x 800 mm TAGS: table, dining table, wooden, furniture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It is beneficial to have furniture that give you a possibility to modify the space according to the user's needs. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to make a piece of furniture that saves space instead of taking space.
