DESIGN DETAILS |
DESIGN NAME: Home Sweet Home
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment
INSPIRATION: Because of the very low ceiling near entrance, we used a number of design features to create an illusion of height. For example, we used dark wooden stripes in plastic laminate finishes to lengthen the look of the walls. Also the use of white coloured plastic laminate resonate the theme of lines and functions to hide the maser bedroom door which is located at the middle of living & dining area.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A residential building over 50 years old with an unconventionally linear Layout home in which two bedrooms are accessible directly from the main living area. Concealed doors have been deliberately designed to be indiscernible from the rest of the walls and decor. At one end, balcony doors open up to spectacular views of Victoria Harbour, allowing natural light to diffuse directly to the opposite end of the space, where a glass sliding door study room has been sited for maximum visual transparency. Meanwhile, the effect of pale-coloured walls and ceiling is to disperse light and create a sense of spaciousness.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: -
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2018 in Hong Kong and finished in Dec 2018.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: As the kids are very small, we use plastic laminate and laminated floor boards to prevent scratches.

I'm absolutely thrilled that "Home Sweet Home" has been awarded the A' Design Award for interior space and exhibition design! It's a stunning piece of work that really encapsulates the feeling of a home. The clever use of space and materials makes it so inviting and it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design. I'm so impressed by the attention to detail and the clever use of lighting, and the result is a truly beautiful and comfortable space. Congratulations to Wing Nga Ng for their fantastic work!

This award-winning work is a fantastic example of how creativity can make a big difference in a small space. The use of dark wooden stripes and white plastic laminate to create an illusion of height make this apartment feel much larger than it is. This clever use of design is really quite remarkable and it is sure to inspire others to think outside the box when designing their own residential spaces. The clever use of the white plastic laminate to hide the master bedroom door is especially noteworthy, demonstrating the designer's skill in creating a cohesive, beautiful space. It is no surprise that this work has been recognized and awarded for its excellence in interior space and exhibition design.
