DESIGN NAME: Perigives
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Humanitarian Movement Poster
INSPIRATION: Many homeless often have to choose between a meal or menstrual products. We wanted to find a solution that could help the homeless with a more efficient, accessible and respectful way of distributing menstrual products to them.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Periods are the worst. To many of us, ‘the worst’ means having painful cramps and not making it to barre class, for others, it means giving up a meal or their dignity just to get access to basic menstruation products. This platform aims to make things right. Perigives has created foldable posters with pockets, enabling people to give and receive menstruation products without barriers. These posters are distributed in female public restrooms and are accessible online to anyone who wants to help.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Perigives posters are printable online, folded and are put up in public restrooms. People engage with the posters by sharing their spare menstruation products or by sharing our posters on social media.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2018 in New York, the posters are put up in any public restrooms. It is an ongoing project through our website. Anyone in the world has access to it.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Our thought was that Perigives poster needed to be accessible for anyone. The public restrooms were the ideal place for foot-traffic and the need for our users. We needed the posters to send a simple message 'Share your menstrual products with the next person that may need it'. Our design decisions such as colors, language, and physical product were made so that people will be interested in the poster. We also needed people to share the word so we created a website with all the information and social media so that anyone could share and connect with us.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Poster: 279.4 x 431.8mm or 215.9 x 279.4mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We talked to homeless who need menstrual products, and then created the posters. The posters were then put up in New York public restrooms and we found many people reacting to the poster. Within 3 hours, the posters were filled with products from different people and many had shared and contacted us through social media.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenges were creating the poster so that they were accessible and affordable to produce for anyone. We also needed the poster to be able to last a long time in public restrooms.
