| DESIGN NAME: Artem PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shared Art App INSPIRATION: Artists, especially young starters who are freelancers and amateurs, lack a source of continuous income as they rely on one-off payments from selling their work, usually with high commission fees to galleries. This was the case for one of the founders of Artem. At the same time, a number of art appreciators need art to enrich their living or work experience. But the reality is they cannot afford to buy art, not to mention changing art frequently. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Artem is a platform that shares idle art pieces from artists with appreciators. It allows art lovers to rent art through a mobile app. Artem solves 2 problems - Young artists possess much artwork but only earn once they sell to galleries. Millennials who appreciate art, on the other hand, have low affordability for art. For artists, Artem brings continuous income, recognition, exposure, and reputation. For art appreciators, Artem enables them to enjoy art without having to own them. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Remember that print you always wanted to swap in the house? Now you can change it into unique art at an affordable rate! With Artem, you can rent an artwork that suits you. The app is easy to use - Environmentally friendly deliveries and insurance can also be easily arranged in just one click. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2018 in London and finished in January in 2019. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Adobe Illustration, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Sketch SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: App serface size: 5.5 inches, resolution ratio：1920*1080 TAGS: App, Shared Economy, Artists, Art trade，rent artwork RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We rely on firsthand research to analysis barriers in artworks transaction with design thinking methodology. We used interviews, art market business model analyses and workshops to understand young artists, art appreciators, galleries staffs, art agencies, and art experts. Starting from delving into discontinuous incomes of artists' and low affordability challenge with art appreciators, we create an app to rent art pieces in a shared economy business model that brings extra income to artists and higher affordability to art lovers.
