| DESIGN NAME: Dialogue with The Shadow PRIMARY FUNCTION: Art Photography INSPIRATION: The light pursues the detail as the shadow expands the imagination revealing the truth beneath it. I have used the form of photography to capture my understanding of the subject. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: I have captured the dialogue with the shadow in various objects: fence, statue, spider web, head of Buddha and the ground of a Japanese garden. Objects under a bright light will show the form and the design clearly, yet objects lying in the shadow reveal its own history, evoking primal feelings of the viewer. The shadow could be played up by one's imagination giving a totally different shape and texture based on the viewer's perspective. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Although street photography is an act of cutting out the moment with the camera, it is an act of observing how I respond to the subject. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: By using micro four third digital photography and then, developing photographs by DXO photo lab in black and white tone. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions : 4424 x 3318 pix. TAGS: photography, art, abstract, black and white, texture, contrast, mysterious RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It is a record of my inner dialogue contemplating what it means to take photos and what makes me want to capture the subject. CHALLENGE: A search for a new expression without using photographic skills, frame structure and CG. NAME: Atsushi Maeda Photography PROFILE: Atsushi Maeda is a professional photographer based in Tokyo, Japan. His interest in photography started in 2004 when he was still a university student. He was in charge of the stage lighting at the university and worked as a lighting assistant for a team that created TV adverts and promotion videos for music artists. His fascination of how light and shadow created a different perception in color, texture, form and ambience soon progressed to using the camera to capture a fragment of his imagination. He has been working as a professional photographer specializing in food and fine art. One of his series is exhibited in the guest rooms at the St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Currently, he is interested in the life of the streets and capturing moments of "Ma", the space and dialogue. |
