DESIGN NAME: Fiveism x Three
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mens Cosmetics
INSPIRATION: We researched both sexes' behavioral patterns so that men can use this product naturally in their everyday lives. From there, we were able to come up with a stick-like, bar shaped design allowing a man's big hands to be able to easily and stylishly apply makeup. Designed with ease of use in mind, draw curves naturally as this item naturally fits in your hand.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We designed product, package design for Fiveism x Three, the industry's first makeup-centered cosmetic brand for men. Made by researching men's behavioral psychology. We designed this bar shaped product to be used as an extension for most daily activities like shaving or brushing teeth. It is stylish and easy to use. The brand's concept is Individuality. Unbound by age, gender, or common sense, we aim to let anyone express themselves for who they are as unique individuals.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Under the same brand, Stealth Makeup casually highlights the subtleties of men's physique, tidying up their faces and giving off a sense of cleanliness. This bar-shaped product focuses on the sound it makes when the cap is opened or closed, stealthily masking the noise. This product includes a handle designed for men with big hands who have trouble using women's eyeshadows. This product fits snuggly in your hand, compatible to your circumstances.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started development in Tokyo, Japan in October 2017 and was completed in July 2018. The product announcement was made in August 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For the face, this product comes with a makeup base (5 colors), foundation (15 colors), concealer (6 colors), highlight (3 colors), shadow (5 colors), powder bar (3 colors), makeup remover, and a foundation brush. For the eyes, eyeshadow (6 colors) and eyebrows (5 colors).
For the lips, lipstick (3 colors). Freely create ideas for your eyes, lips, cheeks, and hair with (10) multiple-use colors. Nails (10 colors). 72 items are on sale as of February 2019.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We ordered women's makeup and repeatedly applied them in front of a mirror every day. We wanted to understand and experience cosmetics, a culture unique to women which has been developed throughout the course of history. Approaching cosmetics from all sorts of angles such as both sexes' viewpoint, behavioral patterns, and psychological cravings, we were searching for the best answer.
CHALLENGE: Makeup is not in men's culture, so we had to create it from the very beginning. If we only just change women's cosmetics' texture, logo, and color and sell them, we believe it would not answer to men's fundamental needs. So we sought an innovative design that could be naturally used as an extension of everyday life.
