| DESIGN NAME: Sufi PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table INSPIRATION: The traces of ethnic cultures and their philosophies are a rich treasure that opens the door to new adventures for a designer. Sufism is a living culture that has been living all over the world for 750 years, spread from Anatolia, where it was born. Sufism blends purity, love and humanism with simplicity. It is a state that needs to be understood. Sufi Table followed the traces of this reflection, and appeared as a dress of Dervish called Tennure. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The grooved conical carrier leg of the Sufi table is designed with the inspiration of the symbolic shape of the Mevlevi Dervish's Tennure - long skirted dress. This conical leg allows the height of the table to serve at different heights to meet varying needs. With its simplicity, it can be transformed into a service and display unit or a meeting table while it is a dining table, thus reflecting its potential in a mystical way. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Sufi is able to establish a deep connection between its philosophy, story and design and its user, and it also has simple and functional specifications to meet the changing needs. Sufism aims at finding traces of the creator and mixing it with humanism in all the living inanimate beings created by defeating the essence of simplification in essence. Sufi Table is intended to convey the inner peace of the Mevlevi philosophy with the symbolic description describing being Nothing. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The idea of the project was first drawn as a raw idea in early 2017, and nourished by the modern interpretation of ethnic figures and lines by researching reference points from tens of thousands of sources produced by a 750-year philosophy. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The grooved conical carrier leg of the Sufi table will be produced on Cnc process units and made of massive wood or block marble unit. Medium carrier unit with 150mm diameter, can be crom, copper or gold color coating over stainless steel. The metal pipe profile, which allows us to adjust the height, includes a thick threaded screw step, which carries the foot and the upper table. Table top table can be adjusted to desired height by turning in its axis. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Sufi Table's 140 cm diameter upper table made of wood or marble can serve for different functions in the 70 cm to 90 cm height range. Suitable for use in residential, office and public spaces. It can be a meeting room table, dining table, exhibition table or serving table. TAGS: Sufi,Table, Tennure, Qzens, Wood, Ethnic, Design, Mevlevi, Mevlana, Furniture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It started when I was watching Sema ceremony of a Mevlevi Dervish, and then I fed the main idea of Sufi Table, discovered the path to that simplicity, and reflected that on design, thanks to my efforts to understand Mevlana, and the philosophy of centuries. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge here was to design the leg form that would make traces of such a profound philosophy of tens of thousands of works. Many complex organic forms were constructed, but the simplicity at the core of Mevlevi enlightened our way while capturing the original idea. The Tennure form, enlivened in the return movement of a Dervish, was embodied in a modern interpretation. The height can then be adjusted by means of a grooved foot in the center.
